HELISUR is the Peruvian leader for chartered air transportation of both cargo and passengers, and operates a fleet of seventeen Mil helicopters.

Since 1994, HELISUR has flown a very wide range of people and valuable shipments: from journalists, scientists, and executives to drilling equipment, gold, or construction material.

The company also performs the maintenance of its fleet on its own in Lima, and is the only specialist in Latin America certified to carry out repairs on Russian Mil aircraft.

Context

HELISUR used to work with a personalized system for its inventory management, fleet management, planning, and organization of maintenance tasks.

The firm has identified five main challenges for its new information system:

  1. Manage planned and unplanned maintenance.

  2. Get a clear evaluation of the effectiveness of maintenance operations and their cost.

  3. Import data from the former inventory management system to the solution.

  4. Incorporate a quality process for the supervision of tasks and components.

  5. Have a software solution usable by both corporate executives and on-field engineers.

Solutions

2MoRO Solutions and its Peruvian partner SYPSOFT SA decided to offer HELISUR a global Information System based on the SAP® Business One ERP and its Aero One® add-on dedicated to Maintenance and Fleet Management functionalities. “This global solution was exactly what we were looking for”, said HELISUR. “It is difficult for medium aircraft operators like HELISUR to cope with the issue of interconnecting your Information Systems when you choose several software solutions (one for Finance and Purchasing, one for Inventory, another for Maintenance…). With the solution provided by SAP® Business One and Aero One®, we are sure of the integrity and reliability of our data, and all our departments can benefit from it."

Results

HELISUR now works with one single database, which ensures both the integrity and reliability of its data, and increases the firm’s quality and safety levels in all its departments (General Management, Finance, Sales & Purchasing, Human Resources, Inventory, Maintenance).

A few key figures about the scope of the maintenance and fleet management project:

  • 28 users

  • 17 helicopters (21 helicopters in June 2012)

  • 34 engines

  • 3 different maintenance plans

  • 600 maintenance tasks

  • 3 hierarchy levels : helicopter/engine/equipment
